I am 5 weeks out from my initial colorectomy with the jpouch. I have had ongoing anul pressure and am pretty much bed ridden. I can only stand and walk around for approximately 15 minutes at a time before the pressure gets to bad and I have to lay down again to releive the pain and pressure on my anus. My doctors have done a ct and say the pouch looks fine and there is no infection. I feel like I am going crazy. Shouldn't I be feeling better by know? I feel so all alone since my dr's say most patients do not experience this after surgery and are on there way to recovery by know. I am stumped and starting to lose hope that I will ever get better. Has anyone expereinced this in their journey?
Do you need to empty your pouch with the pain and pressure? I am not sure if this could just be normal healing or possibly cuffitis or pouchitis. Cuffitis gives me that pressure and pain in the anal area, but it is not dependent on standing or sitting and I do have to empty my pouch to get some relief. I know you are very early out so this could be healing and they may not want to look inside your pouch at this time, but they could view your cuff to see if you may be experiencing cuffitis. If you are not having other symptoms like increased frequency, pain when emptying your pouch or difficulty, this could just be healing. Also, five weeks is a very aggressive marker for your doctor to be assuming you should be on your way to being much better. The recovery can take up to six months to a year in some cases.
