Hi everyone,
It has been a while since I have posted although I frequently check in to see what's happening. I have had a pretty good year aside from the usual few months of post-takedown misery. I gained about 20 lbs. back and felt almost normal with about 8 bm's a day. I was really grateful for my pouch and felt that it would just get better as time went on. I have had no complications since takedown. Three weeks ago, I started to have a lot of pain in my rt lower abdomen (right below my stoma scar) and doubled my frequency on the toilet. I thought it was something I ate because I have had mini bouts like this after eating the wrong foods etc. I also have found it difficult to evacuate without pushing on my abdomen and turning my body. Is this pouchitis? I have the same symptoms as I did for the first couple months after takedown. I have a lot of painful gas and anal pain with spasms. It seems to be staying the same and I do have an appt. for a pouchoscopy. It feels like the old UC days and I am frustrated as well as scared. Things were so good until now. There are many things running through my mind right now and I know stress and worry exasperate the situation. Like most of us who had a rough time through our first surgery, it is hard not to worry. My diet is very healthy. Any advise would be much appreciated and I am so grateful for all of you here.
Blessings,
Rich
