Pretty much the title. the last 3 times we have noticed its definitely brownish..this is new within the last 3 weeks. the only meds I am on is Peptobismol at night, Lomotil before meals, and Amitriptyline for sleeping. low dose at 10mg. if it continues i should probably see a urologist? mention it to my surgeon who is also my gastro at the moment?

I would suggest reading this:

I would definitely see a urologist. I have had a black tongue from Pepto Bismol but never brownish semen. In fact despite taking numerous meds I have never observed a change in the color of my semen, even when I had raging yeast infections.
I'm going to stop this Tylenol and see if thats the trick. its something new i just recently started. if it doesnt go away over the weekend I have found a urologist in the same building as my primary. I'll inform my gastro first and shell probably tell me to see the one i picked out.
The only medication that might promote bleeding might be the Pepto Bismol, since it is a salicylate. The other meds should not be an issue. With the color being brown, it is old blood, so not something acute.
Blood in the semen is pretty common, and any local trauma could have contributed, such as your recent surgery. Even though you did not have a pouch redo, the surgeon probably felt around down there to check things out. If you do not have other symptoms, such as pain, fever, swelling, etc., you can wait and see how it goes. Often, it just goes away and they never know what caused it. You didn't recently start riding a bicycle did you?
But, calling your surgeon or primary doc for advice is fine too. Good for peace of mind. They can do a blood count and urinalysis to see if there is evidence of infection, and if it persists, send you for a urology consult.

Thank you jan. i just spoke to my fiance about it and she agrees as well if its not better by monday im going to call my surgeon/gastro and see what she thinks. its been almost a month from the last dilation now...i have been regularly taking pepto bismol at night for ..going on a week now...and i did ride my bike twice to my mothers house this past week...way to narrow it down right? lol.
With the combination of salicylates AND bike riding, I'd bet my money on that, rather than something ominous. But, yes, even a dilation would be enough trauma. It can take time for the blood to work itself out.

The link I posted earlier said bike riding jostles the testicles and is a frequent cause of this brownish semen phenomenon.
Ironically the group leader of my CCFA support group is a very fit guy with J Pouch who bikes avidly (does 50/100 mile bike rides) and I will ask him if he has gone through this.
