can someone help me. I have had the j-pouch for 3 years with occasional nighttime leaking but now I have 2-4 incontinent movements in my sleep every night.. I went to the doctor concerned and was given Flagyl which didn't do anything..As far as day time goes I have no issues what could this be? I am wondering if it isn't related to nightmares or if I have sleep apnea but still not really sure.

When I have had nighttime incontinence in the past it is a sign of untreated pouchitis. There are other antibiotics besides flagyl to treat it although flagyl is usually attempted first. I had very frequent nighttime incontinence before I started Remicade in November and then it was stopped cold. When was the last time you got scoped?

The protocol is to try other antibiotics before looking at biologics, like Remicade.
The scope should help figure this out.

Ty. Remicade probably should be last option.
The usual next antibiotic to try is Cipro. Flagyl did nothing for me, but Cipro acted like a wonder drug.
My experience with Flagyl is that it works for me but not immediately.....sometimes a few days after I've completed the entire prescription I begin to see improvement in my symptoms. Best wishes!
