Hi Everyone,

I am now a 7.5 year J-Poucher...and was wondering if anyone is aware of new medications/tips/tricks for nightime incontinence.

I am on 0.25mg of xanax (1-2 at bedtime) and 25-50mg of elavil also at bedtime to help with insomnia. These doses are a decrease from 0.25mg of xanax (2-3 at bedtime) and 75-100mg of elavil.

In the past week I have been able to completely stop the elavil at night and am working hard to decrease the xanax to just 0.25mg and eventually to zero...but my doctor tells me that will take quite a while to accomplish since I have been on xanax for a while. (Now I realize that it's a tiny dose and the effect is probably nil, but believe me, trying to go from 0.25mg to nothing is pretty difficult)

So...I have tried the typical Lomotil/Immodium treatments to stop the incontinence, but they slow my gut to the point where I have SEVERE abdominal cramps. UGH.

So...what are some other ideas you fellow J-Poucher's have?

Thanks and Happy 2013

Scott

I was suffering with same problem and after a few months of agony I discovered that neuron tin prescribed for neuropathy was causing the incontinence. It's a side effect that none of my Docs were aware of. I had to discover it myself using the Internet. Maybe something you're taking is causing your problem as well. Worth checking.
