Hello everyone!  I can't believe I just discovered this group.  I had my colon removed and j-pouch formed in 2002 and take down in early 2003.  I have for the most part not changed my life much at all.  However, I have had to have 3 scar tissue surgeries because of mechanical blockage issues.  Has anyone else had any problems with this.  Apparently I grow scar tissue like crazy so it is a vicious cycle.  If you do have blockage problems, what are your go to cures to keep from having to go to the emergency room.  Mine are awful.  Always throw up for hours and the pain is excruciating.  After I have the scar tissue surgeries I typically go a few years with very few blockages.  Also was wondering if any of you have trouble with b12, iron, total protein, or any other deficiencies.  I am currently fighting a vicious bout of Pouchitus, which I have only had a few times in 15 years.  Using cipro and canasa.  Has anyone ever had terrible lower back pain when you have a bad case of pouchitus?  I know this is a lot of questions and I don't even know if I posted this in the right place.  Please give me direction if I am using the site incorrectly.  I am just so excited that I found you wonderful folks!!!!!

I too had my colon removed with the j-pouch made in Sept of 2002, with the hook up in Feb. 2003. I had an adhesion surgery in 2005 and two incisional hernia surgeries where the stoma was. I have been iron anemic since I got hooked up to the j-pouch. My B-12 and protein levels have always been good. I have been on Remicade, Humira, another one, and now Entyvio. I had a reaction to the iron glucose, so I have to endure three IV's of iron sucrose. I pushed to have surgery a couple of years ago, but they act like this medicine is going to heal the ulcers in my intestines. They talked me out of it with all the possible drawbacks, but these days they are now approaching me about having it done. I'll likely go to the Mayo Clinic to have it done, but not excited about the pros and cons.
