Great study on herbals being as effective as xifaxin for SIBO in Dr Siebeckers newsletter. I have spent about 8 hours reading all her articles and seeing her videos on SIBO as that is all she does is treats SIBO in a integrative functional medicine approach. The full study and protocol are to large to put here. If there is a place for me to post on this site I will if someone will tell me where to put it.
The Multi-Center Team used:
2 herbal combination formulas together, at a dose of 2 caps 2 x day x 4 weeks, for each formula.
Biotics FC Cidal with Biotics Dysbiocide, or
Metagenics Candibactin-AR with Metagenics Candibactin-BR
My team commonly uses:
1-3 of the following herbs x 4 weeks per course, at highest levels suggested on product labels.
Allicin from Garlic (the highest potency formula I know of is Allimed)
Oregano
Berberine- found in Goldenseal, Oregon Grape, Barberry, Coptis, Phellodendron
Neem
Cinnamon
We have used the following botanicals: Allium sativum, Hydrastis canadensis, and other berberine-containing herbs, Origanum vulgare, cinnamon, and Azadirachta indica. We have used these as both single agents and in various combinations at dosages that are at the upper end of label suggestions × 30 days. Specific single dosages we have used include allicin extract of garlic: 450 mg b.i.d.–t.i.d., goldenseal/berberine: 5g q.d. in split dosage, emulsified oregano: 100 mg b.i.d., and neem: 300 mg t.i.d.
