Have had permanent ileostomy since June and was using Contvatec moldable but the flange was too big and clunky for my little body. Went to nurse and she put the Hollister Formaflex shape to fit with paste which was small and light on. Took off after three days and it looked great. Then I put on BY myself On day 3 I called nurse if I could come in so she could see how I did, OCD with all this stuff YES. It starting to feel burny last night. This mornibg went in to see her and there was redness around my stoma. Nurse said not that bad and that I may have made the hole too big. She did the powder and spray crusting thing and then took a Eakin slim and made a snake like ring and put around the stoma then the bag she said that I did not need the whole seal She also said that she like the Coloplast barrier rings. On the plus side she said I have a very nice stoma.

I asked her about my belt and she thinks it may be part of the problem since it needs to be more down by my hips (it sits on my waist)which will not happen since I am so thin.

Does anyone have luck with some of the other belts that are not hooked to the bag The directions for getting a New Hope look like you need to be an engineer to size it.

Any thoughts or advce on either of these issues is as always much appreciated.

Sorry you are having such troubles. When I had my temp Ostomy my VNA nurse and I couldn't get the belt to stop riding up. She came up with a brilliant idea. She used a butterfly stabilizer (that is used with catheters to keep the tube anchored to the leg) and put one low on each hip just inside each side. Then we wound the Velcro straps around the belt on each side. It's sort of like those Velcro wraps they use to keep cables in place. The nice part is that the butterfly catheter anchor has an adhesive backing that is gentle to the skin. I have very sensitive skin and I had no problems using the butterflies. You could probably find them online at a catheter supply site. BTw, I am six months post take down and things are not going well with managing my pouch. I may well up with a permanent end Ostomy. Good luck.
