Saw Dr. Shen and his PA, Geeta, last week. Geeta took me off Cipro & put me on Tinidazole 500mg twice daily but the instructions on the bottle does not say how long to take them. Do I just take until gone....there are 28 pills in the bottle!? Also, Dr. Shen put me on Hydrocortisone Acetate suppositories 1 twice daily 12 hours apart. Again, no instructions on how long to do them. He ordered 2 boxes of these....use these until gone? Seems like overkill since he said there was only slight irritation at the cuff found during the pouchoscopy. I have been experiencing increase frequency, especially at night w/ nocturnal incontinence....reasons for the new meds, I'm guessing. I only saw Dr. Shen right after the pouchoscopy (& was a little fuzzy still) so didn't really get a chance to discuss these issues in depth. Although I love Geeta, she sometimes confuses me. I thought there would be more instructions when I filled the prescriptions but nope. So, can someone help me with the time frame on using these meds.....or should I cotact Shen/Geeta? Any help will be greatly appreciated!! Thanks!!

You can email Dr. Shen for clarification, but 10-14 days is pretty typical for a course of antibiotic, so you should take until gone. You need to let the doc know if you are not seeing an improvement in symptoms within a few days.
The HC suppositories you probably should take for a week at the minimum. Then you can reduce frequency or stop, unless you feel rectal irritation again.
Again, contact Dr. Shen for clarification. I am surprised you did not get written instructions if you were sedated.

I have taken the suppositories for up to two weeks or more at times. I also always have some on hand as I may take them for a night or two intermittantly when I feel my cuff acting up. Dr Shen indicated to me it was safe to use these forever if you needed them on and off to treat cuffitis. I personally prefer these over canasa but canasa is usually my gi's first script for cuffitus as he feels it is more benign that anucort. I personally find these suppositories more irritating.
I looked back over the notes from Geeta & it says in her notes to take for 14 days. Dr. Shen just wrote to see Geeta after the pouchoscopy, which I did. It seems I recall Dr. Shen saying he was writing a script for the suppositories due to the irritation & he was giving me 12 refills. I don't recall him or Geeta saying anything about how long to use them & nothing was noted. I have taken 3 pills & used 1 suppository & am already feeling a difference so I think I'll finish the meds & maybe do the suppositories for a

Hey, it is super easy to get everything all jumbled up when you are coming out of a fog. They could have told you there were pink gorillas running around the room and you probably would forget they said it. That is why you need a sober person with you when they tell you things, or have everything written down for you!

dr. shen seems to always writes scripts for tons of refills. Seems he doesn't want to waste his time with us all bothering him for refill prescriptions!
You might want to do the tinamax and suppositories for two weeks, then keep on with the suppositories for a bit. Then you will know more certainly which one is helping you.
But definitely just email them both with questions. They are extremely responsive via email.
