New J-Pouch

Hi there, recently I made a post asking for advice about going straight from an end ileostomy to a j-pouch with no temporary loop ileostomy (turning a 3step procedure into a 2 step, but not the traditional 2 step). Well i am day 5 out of surgery, all my drains and exciting things have been taken out today and although i still have discomfort i feel hopeful for the future. I am a little worried about leakages and incontinence early on, particularly at night. But apart from that the surgeon said everything went perfectly, he is a very experienced doctor. Any advice anyone can give me from here on would be appreciated, reassurance or any gems or wisdom.

Just remind you a little about me too, Im 19 years old, fit and healthy, just hope everything works out for me.

Advice... Take one day at a time. Sometimes it takes folks a good year to really see the true difference in how they'll feel. Have patience, is my advice.

I have to agree, take one day at at time. Everyone's recovery can be different. This site will help alot early on for sure.
