New here - Going in for Surgery Tuesday

Hi All,

I'm new to the boards and wanted to introduce myself.

Have had UC for over 12 years and my latest colonoscopy revealed cancer.... so my Doc's said the colon has to go!!

Scheduled for J-Pouch surgery on Tuesday. I'm having it done in 2 parts. My surgeon trained at the Cleveland Clinic and is suppose to be pretty good. They are going to do it laparoscopic style with the Da Vinci robot.

I'm a little nervous as I've never had surgery before.

Good Luck Tuesday, your life will be better one day at the time. I'm in between part one and part two, the loop ileostomy is a little difficult to manage because it seems to have a mind of its own but fortunately that won't last too long. Take care of yourself and rest when you can because it makes recovery faster.

All the best mate. Be warned you are about to embark on one hell of a ride. Surround yourself with people who love and support you.

My loop actually wasn't too bad looking back on it. Don't worry too much about it, I think people have different experiences with each step
