Hey CeCe, thanks for the reply, I appreciate it. I'll contact Dr.Ng's office.  I think we've met before. If my memory serves me, I visited you while you were at Hoag many years ago. I believe we met on this site and I went to see you for support and to answer questions you might have had, as I had j-pouch surgery a few months before you. The year might have been 2001 or 2002??

Hi!

I have a bit of a recollection about having met you lo those many years ago!  That in itself is amazing since my memory is not what it used to be.  I can't remember who your surgeon was and am interested in knowing since he/she has retired and I like to keep up with those things.  I still see Dr. Ng about every one or two years for a checkup.  No problems, I'm happy to say.  I had one "bump in the road" after my takedown.  I had a blockage because my small intestine twisted upon itself causing a complete obstruction.  Dr. Ng was fantastic.  He was always prepared to operate but held off and massaged my abdomen every time he came by the hospital.  After four days or so the twist untwisted!  I am forever grateful to him for his persistence and for being willing to hold off cutting me open!  I don't know too many surgeons who would do this.  It is so much easier for them to just go in there and fix things!  Best wishes!

Hi! My surgeon was Dr. George Moro. He just up and retired and didn't notify his patients, which I think was rather inconsiderate. I go in for a yearly exam and I called his office and an exchange answered and said he retired last summer and closed the office! So does Dr.Ng recommend an exam every year like Dr. Moro did? Or does her recommend every two years?

Thanks...

Dr. Moro was my surgeon, as well.  He wanted to do a one step surgery and my gastroenterologist told me why he thought that wasn't a good idea for me.   I liked Dr. Moro but could not tolerate his office manager.  I had some serious concerns after the Step 1 surgery (urinary retention) and Dr. Moro shined me on.  Finally, I couldn't take it anymore and switched to Dr. Ng. Wonderful choice I believe.  Dr. Ng did my takedown and has been my doctor ever since.

I'm not surprised Dr. Moro retired without telling his patients.  He never was very considerate, in my opinion.  Regarding the frequency of follow up exams......I don't know Dr. Ng's opinion.  I used to have him exam my J-pouch once a year.  After awhile I stopped having regular exams unless he mentioned I should do so.  Every now and then I make an appointment to have him take a look.  I think he'll give you a better idea of his thoughts on the subject after he exams you.

Know what? I didn't care for his staff either, at first. I also had issues with my urinary track...apparently some nerves were cut and I couldn't go...without help...for a full six months! But now I remember how we met...Dr. Moro asked if I would be a support for you as you were nervous about the surgery. Anyway, thanks for the info, I definitely will contact Dr. Ng's office. I appreciate it!

Yes......I was terribly nervous about the surgery!  Thank you so much for your support!

Regarding the urinary issue..........Dr. Moro said to me, "It is happening frequently.  I am beginning to wonder if I'm doing something wrong!"  I wanted to say, "Duh!"  I had to catheterize for almost a year.  Fortunately full function gradually returned.  I met others who weren't as fortunate!

I hope you like Dr. Ng as much as I do!
