So Ive been in the hospital for a week now of what seems to be pouchitis and an infection in my lymph nodes in the pelvic area. I had a scope, ultra sounds, and an MRE. The doctor just told me that the biopsies had granulomas in my pouch which are associated with crohns disease but he says that they can also just be associated with infection too and thats what he is hoping and they will see how I am feeling in a couple of weeks. I am feeling better on zosyn and rifaximin so I am hoping it is just pouchitis...any thoughts? I just feel so lost on what is going on and the doctors are trying to help me understand but it is pretty confusing for me and sometimes I think I am still not always taken seriously because I am in pediatrics. I think I built up a tolerance to cipro and flagyl doesn't work for me either.

I can't answer the medical questions so much, but I know it is possible to build up tolerance to different drugs. And I also know that a bad infection can wipe the absolute snot out of you and throw things into bad confusion. I was once hospitalized for a very bad bout of pouchitis which the docs had a massive argument over because I kept getting random test results. After the right meds and time, however, it did recede and I improved.

Let's hope it is "just" an infection and can be cleared up with proper meds and rest. Are they keeping you in the hospital on IV meds or have you been sent home?

Obviously I haven't seen how the docs are relating with you, but one thing I do is keep a notepad and a pen by my bed and write down every question I have. That keeps me organized and focused when the docs visit, plus I can take notes on what they say in case I forget later or am confused and need something clarified. Maybe something like that could help?

I hope it gets better very soon for you!
