As my surgeon told me...
"everything is worse with your period, it is just the way it is!" huh coming from a male I wonder if he truly gets it!lol
I asked him to do a hysterectomy at the same time as my j pouch when I was on the operating table and he laughed thinking it was a joke! Seriously I was not joking, that time of the month is brutal and I am on a 20 day cycle! go figure

The right birth control pill fixes all my menstrual-related issues. (It used to make my UC symptoms SO much worse.) Now I only menstruate every three months, and it is very short, very light, and brings almost zero of the typical period symptoms/effects like cramps, bloating, moodiness, etc. I might just feel a little tired the day I start, but that's pretty much it. It's been a total life-saver for me. Haven't had my takedown yet, but I haven't noticed any difference since J-pouch construction and don't expect to really after takedown either.

Like Bootstrap, I've found the 3 month birth control to work very well. MNGirl, I take Seasonique. For me the generic version did not work. I take the name brand which is pricey but worth it.

Although I now only have to deal with my period 4 times a year instead of 12, I still have to deal with horrible butt pain during and after my menses. Arg.

This most recent time, the pain (located on the left side and feels like it's about 2 inches in) has lasted longer so the doctor gave me Cipro thinking it could be pouchitis. After a few days on it I had a scope which revealed no issues. I find that great but still don't have an answer for the bleeping pain in the butt. Standing and walking are not much fun.

Any one out there with similar issues? And what have you been able to do about it?
