Hi everyone! I got step 2 of a 3-step procedure on 1/29 at an IBD clinic in NYC. About a week after my surgery, my j pouch started to produce a lot of mucus and I began to experience nighttime incontinence. My surgeon assured me that this is normal at my two-week follow up.
Since then, my nighttime incontinence has continued and the urge to pass mucus during the day has only gotten worse. It almost feels like my UC. It comes in painful waves that last about 30 seconds, but if I hold it really hard then eventually it will subside. Sometimes it can be as often as every few minutes. I know that I have a high pain tolerance after years of UC but I have to close my eyes and clench my jaw to get through the pain, which is beginning to impact my quality of life. The mucus is very watery when I pass it. We are going to do a pouchogram with contrast before my reversal to verify that everything is okay, but I'm getting very concerned.
Has anyone experienced this before? Is it a bad sign for my reversal? I contacted my surgeon's office this afternoon and have yet to hear back from him.
