Yes and no,
I cannot drink a glass of milk but can still eat yoghurt, hard cheeses and some ice creams...to a certain degree.
Soft cheeses are deadly but goat and sheep's milk cheeses are fantastic for me and my pouch.
Yes, most colonless people tend to be lactose intollerant but not all of us...I didn't do very well on diary pre-pouch either so it is no big change for me.
By the way, a lot of people can get reactions other than diarreah from milk products...all sorts of skin afflictions are attributed to milk usage too...stop the milk and the excema goes way.

Had the breath test as a kid with my UC dx and was found to be lactose intolerant.

I'm sort of "selectively" affected by lactose as an adult with a "pretty good" pouch, though. Large bowl of ice cream, large glass of milk = gas and bloating/discomfort. Cheese of almost any kind (unless really soft and large large amounts), small amounts of milk in a recipe, yogurt = pretty ok.
