Has anyone tried drinking metamucil to help make more consistency of stool so can get out bowel movements easier? Sometimes my stool looks does not look like poop but the chewed up food I have eaten. This makes it come out more often. I do have cuffitis and only feel get real relief after using the canasa but only that first time going to the bathroom after inserting it. Getting very frustrated. I just want to be able to get the stool out without feeling I am doing yoga on the toilet. Also takes me much longer in the bathroom each time I go.

Lots of us use Metamucil (psyllium). I’ve used a normal dose with breakfast and dinner for 18 years. If you like you can start with a smaller dose to see how it works for you.
I just started using psyllium and have really liked the results so far. I use 1 heaping teaspoon at b-fast and 1 more at dinner.. I am still very new to using my jpouch and have shaved off 4 BM’s per day since using psyllium husk...I hope it works for you...
Do you still use psyllium at breakfast if you eat oatmeal or a banana?
Thanks for the replies. I used it years ago and really didn't think it helped. Since it has been many years ago a lot older with many body changes so I will give it a try again.
Has anyone using it found their body needs to adjust to it? I have tried it several times but find my frequency increases greatly and I'm pretty miserable on it. Not sure if I need to give it more time?
I found that more is not always better....I tried a tablespoon with each meal and found myself in the bathroom more that day. I dropped down to a teaspoon and seems to work better for me. Maybe start out with half a teaspoon with each meal and see how it goes.
I use just ground psyllium husk. I find that a half-tablespoon once a day works best for me. It just shows how different each of us are. I also take 3 Beano tablets when I use psyllium to keep excess gas at bay.
We went camping this summer and I didn't use the psyllium like I was doing at home. I could definitely tell the difference and had a lot more butt burn.
Best of luck to you as you experiment to see what works best for you
I do not have any experience with Metamucil, but Oatmeal is pretty good for everything
Does anyone get spasm with Metamucil or any other med to reduce BM?
I take three Beano with Psyllium to keep gas down. The psyllium has worked for me as a good thickener, but I only take it in the morning. I want my pouch to empty during the day, so I don't want to slow things down too much.

Did you give Metamucil a try? Did it help?
I used to take a heaped teaspoon mixed with a minimal amount of water immediately before eating anything substantial. Only the "fine" version worked for me.
It doesn't work for everyone, but I think it's worth a try. Make sure to start with a small amount.
I recommend to try the fine powder and coarse husk, they seem to work differently in my opinion. I found the coarse to work wonders compared to the fine powder for me. Although it is like drinking a glass of water with a spoonful of saw dust......
Thanks

I’ve found that shaking the mixture works much, much better than stirring (less like sawdust). Konsyl has flimsy plastic cups with lids for the purpose, but I use 16 oz. mason jars and plastic screw-top lids. They work great.
I’ve been taking 3 heaping tea spoons of Metamucil everyday for 18 years, first thing in the morning mixed in large glass of water. I buy only the large 55 oz containers, orange flavor. For whatever reason the smaller containers I find have different granules that are harder to digest. I wait at least 2 hours, minimum before eating. This has been a difference maker for me. Makes your bowel movements as close to normal as possible.
MR D.... you take 3 tsp in the morning and you have close to normal BM all day and take no more until next morning?
Scott thanks for the tip...I’ll pick me up a shaker this week and give it a go
