I found out I have pouchitis and the Dr wants me to use Melamine (Canasa) suppositories to cure the pouchitis. Has anyone used this and was it successful?
When I had my jpouch, I did use canasa suppositories, however it was for cuffitis. They did help as soon as I could get over the uncomfortable feeling of a suppository.
Funky, mesalamine is often used for cuffitis, but it's an unusual choice for pouchitis. Is there a reason your doctor might be avoiding the standard antibiotic treatment?
I h ave never heard of treating pouchitis with canasa. Are you certain you are not dealing with inflammation of the cuff and doctor called it pouchitis?
