I have been taking VSL#3 capsules that I get from Amazon (my insurance won't cover the packets), but it is relatively expensive. I've heard you can get it online from Canada for less. Is that true? Anybody have a specific website recommendation? Or some magical plan for getting the powder (I can get Rx from my doc) without having to pay full price? Many thanks.

I buy VSL-3 at my local pharmacy for $53 for 60 capsels. I don't have to pay any shipping charges. Most pharmacies carry it now.
There is another product called VSL3-DS and if you're lucky your insurance will cover it. A doctor can prescribe it and there is clinical data about VSL3-DS. I've been fighting with my insurance company for about 3 months to get it covered without success. It is extremely expensive.
The VSL#3DS is much more product per dose than the capsules. You have to take 4 capsules to equal one packet of the DS. You have to take two packets of the regular strength VSL#3 to equal one packet of the DS. This is why the DS is the prescription strength.

In Canada we order it from Ferring Pharmaceuticals.
But it's not cheap here either.

One minor correction: you have to take *8* capsules to equal one DS packet.
Thanks Scott. I mixed up the VSL#3 Junior with the capsules. The Junior Packet dose has twice as much as the capsules.

I just filled a 90 day double dose supply of VSL 3 DS, 180 packets. I've met my deductible so I paid nothing. Will pay around $100 for the next 90 day double dose supply. My GI prescribed it for me. I had my takedown three weeks ago
