Hi there, I would like to see somebody at Mayo to discuss my options for my sphincter issues. I live in Iowa...my surgeon here cannot help me with this issue besides having me take miralax and enemas all day long. My issue is not leaking. My sphincter pressure is too high and I cannot empty easily. My surgeon does not offer Botox for sphincter, says I’m not a candidate for biofeedback, and doesn’t have any idea of medicine/suppository I can take for this problem. My jpouch is supposedly “correct”. No pouchitis, cuffitis, nothing like that. I feel great besides emptying troubles. If I go to mayo, who should I see? A GI? A surgeon? Who do I contact at mayo to discuss my problem?

thanks guys!

@Kh1988 Although some surgeons do a good job with “medical” issues related to J-pouches, gastroenterologists tend to do a better job (when they are appropriately knowledgeable about pouches). Even Botox injections would more often be done by a gastroenterologist. Perhaps there’s a local GI who can help, or (if not) who might know who to send you to at Mayo. Good luck!

That’s good advice, thank you! I don’t have a GI right now, so I may try to find one here that can help me. If they can’t, then maybe at Mayo
