I have today received a letter from my gastro to let me know he had missed something on my last MRI and that there is evidence of inguinal lymphadenopathy.

That is all it says and that he will discuss the matter with the radiologists.

Does anyone have any idea what this could be and if I should be worried about pre-cursors for cancer.

I'm just comopletely in the dark.

Secondly I have developed a weird symptom over the past 2 weeks. I struggle to swallow. It;s not a pain or that anything is stuck. It just feels as tghough when I need to swallow the mechanism isn't there. I just can't do it. Much like standing in the stalls for a wee and getting stage fright. I try and swallow and I just can't. The automatic reaction doesn't kick in, I end up having to drink a mouthful of water to instigate it.

Weird and I can't see anything on here or on the internet for that matter.

Any ideas?

Enlarged lymph nodes can mean a variety of things. Since these are inguinal, it probably has something to do with inflammation or infection somewhere in your pelvic cavity. If you've been troubled with pouchitis, that could do it, but it could also mean there is something else going on down there. It's premature to assume it could be cancer, but I suppose it is possible. But, if it was a major concern, I would suspect your doctor would be having you come in immediately. I think doctors underestimate what panic they cause with these bluntly stated letters.

As to the swallowing difficulties, again, this could be caused from any number of things, like a small stroke, to viral nerve damage, to anxiety. But, definitely something to bring to the attention of your doctor, especially since this is persistent over more than a few days, and/or if it is worsening.
