Hi,
Has anyone had low protein levels on their blood work since getting their J-pouch? My last 2 cbc tests showed low protein. I eat eggs, meat and dairy every day so I don't know why I would have low protein. I've been wondering if maybe I am just not absorbing it due to lack of colon & rectum. I have had my j-pouch since 2008 when I was diagnosed with stage 3 rectal cancer.
Thanks,
Dave

In addition to slowing your gut down... try eating 5 or 6 meals a day. Make sure you have protein in each of those meals. So eat breakfast, midmorning snack, lunch, afternoon snack, dinner, and snack before bed. Snacks can include things like greek yogurt, peanut butter, half an egg salad sandwich, cheese and crackers.. think protein in every meal.
good luck.
