New to this forum.  Total colectomy 10 years ago with no issues ever - not even pouchitis that I know of.  Went on Ketogenic diet in January and lost a bunch of weight and then decided to try gluten free (wondering if original UC might be a gluten allergy that activated my immune system).  Since starting the new diets in January been dealing with very loose stools, more frequency and leakage at night.  The loose stools and increased frequency are nothing new.  That happens from time to time.  But the leakage is definitely new.  That NEVER happened before.  Both the keto diet and gluten free necessitate no bread or pasta.  Wondering if this is the reason for the loose stool/leakage problem.  Reintroducing them today to see if they make a difference but wondering if anyone else has a thought on this.  Is my thinking on the right track?  Thanks in advance.

P.S.  By the way been eating oatmeal in the mornings and bananas and cheese to bulk up the stool especially at night.  Has helped with the leaking but that's starting to hurt my stomach

I am sensitive to gluten but I still eat quite a few carbs. I eat a lot of potatoes, sweet potatoes, fruits high in carbs, rice and rice products, and sometimes gluten free bread and pasta.

But I agree with Scott, if you felt better on your previous diet than that it probably the diet for you. You can still eat a healthy lifestyle and hopefully maintain your weight loss with some carbs.

So it's been 3 days of returning to my regular diet and things are much better.  System seems back to normal.  Up less at night and no leakage!  Definitely have learned that my system cannot handle wild, drastic changes in diet.  From now on if I need to do anything for weight management it will be old school caloric intake control.  Thanks for the replies and for confirming what I thought may have been going on.
