Yes! Especially if your one of those people that let their ostomy fill up all the way, it reverts back and goes to the pouch for pooping. I have had that happen quite a few times when i had a loop and others have told me that as well
I had some minor output of bile after my loop ileostomy/ J-pouch creation for maybe a month or so. That is normal!
As you get closer to your takedown surgery, your surgeon will perform and anal exam as well as an X-ray with fluid to make sure the pouch is healed. I had a little output after that but that is normal as well.
@dlewicki, thanks for the info. I don’t actually have one at the moment. I did have one many years ago, but I couldn’t remember the details. I might be getting one again soon so I’m trying to get my head around the “plumbing”.
You always have the possibility to have some kind of discharge from the anus which is why some people who go back to the external bag and have no intention to return to pooping have it removed. Or obviously any situation where being hooked back up can't happen.
There shouldn't really be any stool, otherwise it would not really be a diversion. It is possible that if not done correctly or something happens then stool may actually pass.

Thank you. I just couldn’t seem to find an answer by searching on this one.
