im 43 years old and i received my j-pouch half my life ago +. 20 years ago. my anniversary of my jpouch surgery is october 15th 2021.

i had familial polyposis. a disease that usually runs hereditarily in the family and is inherited from a parent from which they inherited the illness from their parent.

in my case, my father passed on the mutation/gene to me as its an inherited illness received when born.

i had my first colonoscopy and egd 22-23 years ago at it was discovered then what i really had

my situation is rare because i did not have an anal/rectal resection and had a 1 step procedure.  i have my sigmoid colon and am scoped down the throat and  thru the anus colo/endo every 4 to 6 months as per my g.i. for surviellence.

if i keep up with surviellence i can live like this another 60+ years. ive been fortunate and hope that trend continues.  with FAP surviellence is key to stay on top of things.
