Hi everyone.

After a hellish few years life is beginning to settle for me a bit and I am going to travel back to the UK for 5 weeks from NZ to see friends and family.

The only trouble is that I am really scared of the long flight (26 hours) and my j pouch. I have had one or two accidents with my pouch but nothing too major.

I suffer from a lot of gas and when I am at home and lying down, I can pass this fairly safely. Sitting up is a different matter. I've also been told by my partner that I sometimes fart in my sleep. So my problem is how can I fly and sleep sitting upright and have the possibility of farting in my sleep, thus causing an accident.

Has anybody else had to deal with this situation flying long haul? Ay experiences or guidance would be most appreciated. X

Tiki.
I have done a lot of travelling since having my S pouch done, just come back from London yesterday,22 hours flight.
I always book a seat at the back of the plane nearest the toilets and make sure my pouch is empty before trying to sleep sitting up,mostly unsucessfull anyway.
Just be carefull with what you eat, maybe take some lomotil or suchlike and I think you will be ok.
Seatguru will give you a seat map of the aircraft you will be flying on.
Bestv Regards.
John.
ps drink plenty of water on the flight and maybe no beer or wine if offered.
