Hi everyone, I am currently 2 weeks post take down and over the past two days have experienced a significant decrease in bowel movements. In fact many times my bathroom trips are just to expel gas more than anything else. The concerning thing is this, my stools tend to mostly be firm like pellets. Its currently 8.30pm in the UK and I've been awake since 7am and in that time I've been 3 times and 2 times in the night beforehand. I deliberately ate late last night to increase my BMs but I was expecting more than 2.

Now I am actually quite happy to have less BMs with less abdominal discomfort however the hardness of my stools is what concerns me because I have to strain them out when I make a bathroom trip. Its for this reason  I've given up taking codeine or imodium because I'm more comfortable having 4-6 BMs in a 24 hour period rather than 1-2 BMs. I really want your guys feedback since I've heard on this forum that straining is bad.

That's EXACTLY what I did as well. After the takedown I didn't like how I felt when I took Imodium so I stopped. I prefer the looser stools I get now, even if it means I have to go once maybe twice more every 24h (no big deal to me).

My surgeon told me I wouldn't need Imodium and I secretly thought to myself "I bet I will" but it turns out I really don't. Sounds like you're the same!

Give it a few days without Imodium and things should be a lot less hard hopefully.
