Hi, I was just wondering.. For people who have treated pouchitis with flagyl, if you are taking 3 pills a day for 7 days, 500 mg each, how long did it take for you to see any improvement?
You should see *some* improvement within 2-3 days. Not necessarily a resolution, but improvement. 1500mg/day is a hefty dose, so if you are not feeling it after 7 days, you need a different antibiotic or a combination.
Thank you Jan and Scott! I am on my 6th dose and starting to feel some improvement! Let's just hope it doesn't come back when i finish my round of flagyl!
Flagyl alone never did anything for me. Cipro was like a miracle in my case. OTOH when Cipro alone stopped doing the trick some years later, adding Flagyl was very effective, and I'm still using the combination quite successfully.

Me too, Flagyl only works for me in combination with another antibiotic for me, the two best for me are Cipro and Augmentin. Flagyl never worked for me by itself.
I finished my round of flagyl and I am free of pouchitis for now.. It was horrible and also gave me a bad taste and nausea. Hopefully if it happens again, I can request a different antibiotic
