Greetings,

My wife had takedown about 6 months ago and was doing great (4-6 BMs/day) until last week. She had nausesa, vomiting, cramping, diarrhea, etc. She went to the GI yesterday who suspected C. Diff and gave her iv fluids. She is feeling better after the fluids but still has diarrhea and occasional abdominal cramping. The test results came back negative for C. Diff. and white blood cell count is high so now not sure what it could be. Any thoughts out there?  Thank you!

Could she have just picked up a GI bug?  I mean, we ARE still susceptible to them, just like anyone, just our symptoms can kinda be amped. It doesn't mean it's something tremendous each time.

When I just have diarrhea, I can maintain my hydration, but throw in vomiting too, and I'm at urgent care for fluids.  Just keep an eye on her hydration and maybe give it another day or two, then reassess.

I would suspect pouchitis if it weren't for the vomiting, which leans back toward virus.  I was just in the hospital for a GI bug that lasted almost a week.  For several days in a row I was going every 30 minutes-2 hours.  My "coloned" husband just recovered from 8 days of diarrhea from a GI bug.  So there are some nasty bugs out there right now.
