Well, tomorrow morning I'm going under the knife for the 2nd surgery, to build the pouch.  I'm super nervous, I've worked in the yard all weekend, working off nervous energy.  I have the feeling that I'm going to be hurting pretty badly.  I have a fantastic surgeon! It'll be robotic assisted.  So, tell me your experiences and what I can expect for the 2nd surgery, such as pain levels, recovery time, did you have any type of bm's even tho it's a loop iliostomy until takedown, any and all advice will be appreciated.  And is being this nervous normal?? When I had my meniscus in my knee done I was not nervous at all, but I'm nervous to the point of being almost scared this time!
Anyway, let me know what your experiences were!!!

I was really anxious, I feared my surgeon would sturggle in building the pouch, or that it wouldn't be possible to perform (a very small percentage of people can't). The post op was quite the same as the first, then it depends if laparotomy or laparoscopy, if yours is laparoscopy, you will have very small pain.
Regarding the last question, yes you will have some bathroom trip to empty some liquid which the pouch will produce. It will be absolutely normal. My surgeon advised to take mesalamine suppositories to keep the pouch "open" each other day.
Good luck and tell us how you're going!
