Yes, sort of...my uncle had a both too (he lost his colon to Fap)...his diet from what I remember was pretty basic and very well balanced.

Usual meals were grilled salmon, a baked potato, small salad (careful of the dressing) and whole grain bread.

Oatmeal with berries for breakfast...his doctor insisted that he have a healthy dose of protein at each meal so there was some yoghurt in the mornings, fish or chicken with lunch or dinner and lots of steamed veggies, whole grain bagels, rye bread, rice or pasta etc.

He used olive oil and fresh butter for fats (never margarine).

He loved bagels with cream cheese and smoked salmon with a couple of slices of tomato and onion. Said it was the perfect meal.

He kept away from deserts other than egg white based cookies (my aunt made them for him, with egg whites, vanilla and fake sugar)...or the same thing with a bit of flour and dark chocolate chips.

My aunt also made a lot of fruit compots with apples...sometime crumbles using oatmeal as the toppping.

He ate well, enjoyed his meals and never felt deprived.

try PMing me...I have tons of meal plans...all simple, easy to do, easy to cook and delicious.

My favorite thing is fresh herbs (and spices)...they go a long way to transforming something bland into something fantastic.

Cooking methods do not need to be difficult either...Searing meats quickly then throwing them into a slow cooker or the oven works fine...takes only a few minutes of prep time and then throw a handful of veggies (sweet potatoes or baby potatoes, cherry tomatoes, onions & garlic...)

It works with any meat, fish or chicken or even tofu.

Soups are a diabetics best friend (my uncle had soup night every Sunday)...he threw whatever was hanging out in the bottom drawer into the pot and then slow cooked it with tons of dried peas/beans (pearl barley, split peas...) and spices...it was his favorite meal...just grill some whole grain bread and slather with butter and you have a very healthy meal.

Don't let cooking intimidate you...just have fun with it...What is the worst thing that can happen? It tastes terrible and you order Chinese!
