Hi Dawn,
Yes, I have joint pain, mostly sacro-iliac (hips), feet and between the scapula (upper spine) and cervical...plus other parts that come and go. I used to be able to manage it reasonably well with NSAIDs (beware, they can wreak havoc on your digestive system and cause bleeding) but I take them morning and night and nothing in between. I also went to the chiro weekly or bi-weekly for years.
Now I go to a physiotherapist regularly (it isn't immediate like the chiro but helps over the long-run).
When I have a huge flare my GP gives me a shot and puts me on something stronger (opiates) for 7 days to calm it down and super NSAIDs.
All of that is just maintenance for me. It never goes away except for during/after exercise. Exercise is what saves me. When I am free and have both the time and strength I do 1hr of cardio +1/2hr stretching/yoga/pilates mixed up. I then have a few hours pain-free. If I don't work out I am miserable. It really does help.
I have been thinking of buying a massage chair for the past year. Not yet saved up enough for it but my physio therapist thinks that it could really help me. (I have tried them all and love how they make me feel).
Lately I have cut out flour, most carbs and am trying hard to reduce the sugar hoping that it will reduce the inflamation...my GP isn't sure if it will help me but is positive that it couldn't hurt. So far, no change but I am not being strict enough.
That's it...no miracles just efforts every single day.
Sharon
