I went to the Gastroenterologist last year got upper GI, She found bacteria growing directly out of bottom of my stomach in my small intestine. Maybe 2 inches into my small intestine. She called it was inflamed with bacterial growth, she called it flora something. She gave me strong stomach antibiotics to take for 12 days , It did help but however when I eats lots of carbs it has now come back . Reason I know this is before the Upper Gi , I had a uncontrollably cough. I have that cough again and its not from acid reflux as I been taking Nexium for years for this. So my question ,I hear lots of J-Pouch patients has this common problem. I'm afraid it will turn to cancer if I cannot get it under control soon. Please help and tell me if you had this and how you successfully treated it??? Dr or over counter Probiotics.

I wouldn’t rule out reflux based on the Nexium - acid blockers can stop working after chronic usage. I recently had to switch from Prilosec to pantoprazole for this reason.
Thanks for the reply
Im thinking I need to change from nexium and try Prilosec

Prilosec is very similar to Nexium, and might not change anything. A different medication would probably be a better choice.
Thank You I will change to Prilosec
If Nexium may have stopped working then Prilosec is *not* a good choice to switch to. It’s essentially the same drug. I’m sorry if I wasn’t clear.
ok , so I wonder what would be a good choice next??

I switched to pantoprazole (Protonix), which has worked well for me. It’s a prescription drug, but if you wanted to try something over-the-counter then perhaps Pepcid-AC would work.
Thank You
I take pantoprazole in the morning and generic pepcid (20 mg) at night. Maybe you just need to add an antacid. It works for me. Good luck.
Thanks , At this point I have tried about everything over counter. I'm sure its SIBO
Sorry to hear. I keep forgetting that most people on this site have tried everything under the sun to make themselves well.
Yes , no doubt
