I always put extra salt on my food and put Iodine salt in my water, iodine salt: has sodium, iodine, and pottassium in it. Ever since I have been doing that, that solved all of my problems. I cannot guarantee that will solve your problems but I think it might help since it worked for me and my dad.

Thanks for the replies, 1st off Scott my diet is very strict because of my scar tissue in my small intestine, I cannot eat FIBER at all, it blocks me up.

Lauren, I cannot consume too much salt as I have high Blood pressure problems

Thank You both for the replies IM 65 yo

Yeah too much fiber without water blocks me up too, big time! My water method of drinking water before, during, and after every meal helps with that.

And oh I see! Yeah that salt might increase the blood pressure. My dad has high blood pressure as well and I do the salt thing with him to keep his salt levels up and it has been working. When you have diarrhea, you lose vitamins and minerals. Putting salt in your food and water replaces what you lost and keeps the levels evened out. In addition to my dad having high blood pressure, when I did not put salt in his water, he was hospitalized for having low salt intake. So because of that, I have had to put salt in his water and everything has been fine for years even though he has high blood pressure. I think its mainly pros and cons but if you do not feel safe doing that , then I understand.

Look up  oral rehydration recipes online. St. Mark's Hospital in England has one, WHO (World Health Organization)  has some and there are others using various juices and water.

I've used one that mixes table salt, lite salt (potassium iodide), baking soda (chloride) & sugar when feeling slightly dehydrated or have the trots. The sugar helps the small intestine absorb this fluid. If you drink lots of water by itself, it can run right through you, taking your electrolytes with it.

If you keep to a balanced recipe, it probably wouldn't affect your blood pressure, but maybe it's something to run by your doctor or perhaps you have your own blood pressure cuff.

I should also mention that the amount of salt used in these hydration recipes seems rather low, so it might be enough to boost your electrolyte levels without increasing blood pressure.  --Rose--

Damned if I do damned if I dont, lol, but Im still kicking, for now anyways. I just got fluids this evening with vitamins, feeling some better already

Damn if you do, damned if you dont haha! So true!!! It sucks but it works. If you sodium falls to low, the hospital will give you salt IV anyway, that happened to my dad even though he has high blood pressure as I mentioned above. Just keep an eye on things and make sure your levels are normal. Glad your feeling better though. Just remember that you lose vitamins, minerals, and salt with each diarrhea episode you have, just keep that in mind.

Love your Bible quote too!!! So positive!

Sugar also helps you absorb electrolytes too!
