My husband is having J pouch surgery on Tuesday. He had colectomy 12 years ago that was suppose to be the first of 3 steps. His surgeon really botched things so he lived very well with his illeostomy. Nobody would chose elective surgery after what they put him thru. He recently developed diversion colitis. He had 2 surgical options- & he has chosen J pouch. He is a very optimistic person. So, I am the one that researches things that will help him. This site has been so informative already! I would appreciate any comments that will help (medical, spiritual etc) "forwarned = forearmed" Happy Thanksgiving!

It's great to see that so many people are living successfully with J Pouch. I was wondering if anybody was 60+ before they had their surgery. My spouse is 60,in great shape, no meds etc (his colon was his only problem). He has such a positive attitude. If anybody can make it work-it'll be him.
