Hi katie R.  I had takedown surgery just over a year ago and had no nightime leakage for about the first 8 months or so.  All of a sudden it seemed I was starting to have discharge overnight.  Not every night but most nights.  I remember I was sick with a cold and took nyquil before bed, well that was horrible, I made such a mess.  I will never take nyquil again and highly suggest no one else take it with a pouch.  I also have pain when I feel food moving through my small intestine and my belly makes girgling sounds.  I had a pouchoscopy done in April and they found mild inflammation in the pouch so put me on a course of cipro then flagyl.  It did not fix things and I ended up in emergency room 12 days ago with lots of stomach pain.  They did a barium intrevenus cat scan and my entire small intestine is inflamed.  I thought maybe it had something to do with being on amoxicilin for a root canal but who knows.  So anyway now I just finished 10 day course of cipro and flagyl combined.  It definitely slows everything down and I have bulkier stools maybe going 3 times a day.  I cleaned up my diet and exercise everyday.  I still have some leakage though. I have not tried imodium or lomatil yet. I hope there are alternatives to antibiotics.  I would go for a scope though since it sounds like you might have pouchitis.  The small intestine is suppose to absorb nutrients for your body not serve as a waste disposal holding tank.  My body is fighting against these new bacteria.  I thought things would get better after the first year but now they are getting worse.  I do not want to go back to an illeostomy bag.  Hang in there.  Hope things get better and you get control of this.
