Hello, this is one of my first posts in a while. I recently moved to the Phoenix area and I've been getting more migraines than I have in years. I believe it has to do with my digestive system, but can't make heads or tails of it. It could very well be dehydration....as it is so much drier here than where I came from. Any thoughts or experiences? Thanks in advance!

I am not sure if this will work or not, but ever since I put salt in my water, that has taken care of my migraines. I think your migraines are related to dehydration but there is no way for me to be sure since I do not know your body. Maybe try putting salt in your water and drinking more water. It has helped me a lot! I rarely get migraines now.

How do you know how much salt to put into your water??

I get migraines and have recently discovered that if I drink 16 oz.of water containing Liquid I.V. (one packet of Liquid I.V. makes 16 oz.), I get far fewer migraines. Am experimenting with the optimum amount.

I also drink 6-8 glasses of plain water throughout the day.

Homemade electrolyte solutions are also available online. St. Mark's (in England) & the World Health Organization offer these.

Good discussion. I also have Liquid IV and haven't tried it in the volume you suggest. I am getting them now AFTER I go for a walk or hike. One thing my son mentioned to me was that all the water I'm drinking is reverse osmosis water and he says it has no minerals in it....that could be why I'm getting migraines or am dehydrating too easily. Thanks, I'm going to try my liquid IV in the am and see what that does....although it messes with my 16 hour intermittent fasting...

The fact that you're getting migraines after walking/hiking suggests to me that you are getting slightly dehydrated and even slight dehydration can trigger migraines.

Also, if you're drinking a lot of plain water, this can wash out electrolytes which will cause some degree of dehydration. Your son is correct.

I just happened to read an article on migraines & dehydration, which caused me to try electrolyte replacement. Like magic, I was no longer waking up in the morning with a migraine.

I hope this works for you.  Rose
