During the day i have stricture like symptoms after eating breakfast. all day i get the urge to go, i get in and release a little, tiny pieces., can push but no matter how hard nothing else comes out and i know theres more. i go a couple hours in between then same result. BUT when nightime comes i will lay down in bed, sleep for 3 hours or so then i wake up and im going and rushing to the bathroom every hour sometimes multiple times per hour and when i go theres no pushing pain, the stool is larger and more formed and a decent amt each time, its like my pouch is saving all of the stool during the day just to release it between the hours of 3am and 6:40 am (at which point i get up to eat something just to stop the madness) Surgeon is sedating for dilation this monday believing i have a stricture somewhere.

Attempt of an explanation : you're strictured so can't evacuate well during the day. Since the pouch gets fuller and fuller, at some point the pressure in the pouch is so high that you do evacuate. Why does it happen at night ? Not sure but probably because the sphincter muscles are much more relaxed when you sleep (as all other muscles !) than during the day.
I've read your reply to my suggestion of catheter and that you're getting dilated soon. FYI, I was also strictured (at the ileo-anal anastomosis/outlet of the pouch) and have been dilated several times but it changed almost nothing. Again, what changed everything was to use the catheter to evacuate well during the day and just before going to bed, and now I have almost "normal" nights (ie I typically wake up only once). Using a catheter really isn't that bad; I actually kind of enjoy it because I feel so much better afterwards (because of much less pressure in the pouch) !
However, it won't work if you're strictured at the inlet (instead of the outlet) of the pouch. This is an important point, that you shoud try to clarify IMHO.
All the best, A
Oh and one more thing, DG : using the catheter has the added benefit that the stool comes out without touching the butt's skin, so I have much less "butt burn" now than before !
And I should add that I don't own any stocks of the company which makes the catheters :-)
I hope this is a easy fix but it does not make any sense to me. If your strictured, your strictured. How can you not pass stool in am but pass at night?
I have this problem. My time would be running to the bathroom during the late afternoon/ eve hours. Since I got a bidet I use it like a enema and shot some water in. It gets my pouch going when I feel like I can't pass anything And it makes my nights a lot better.
Good luck Monday. I was dilated for a few months after my mucosectomy as my stricture was at the connect line. Before this surgery, I had the prefect pouch!
I have a bidet and have not tried to use some water for that yet. Maybe I'll try. The idea is a bit uncomfortable though.
reconnection was only a few weeks ago. It sounds like your system needs some time to adjust.
