Is it dangerous to take the flu shot immediately post op?

I can't remember if I took it already but I highly doubt it...
On top of which this year's flu is horrible...lots of family down with it and my friends are all suffering from bronchitis and other lung related issues due to the flu.
Is it dangerous to take it now? I usually take it long before now too...is it still effective?

The shot is useful any time before you actually catch the flu. It's most effective if there's a delay between the shot and exposure to the virus.

As far as the post-op question, there might be some post-op circumstances that would suggest avoiding the vaccination, but I'm not aware of them.

We hold them on ICU patients, but once out of ICU, they give it. We hold it to not tax an already taxed system, but if it's just simple surgery, they give them to patients here.
