irritation from adhesive remover wipes

A warm shower and ivory soap always gets everything off for me.

I use a tissue or two to wipe away the adhesive. Takes about a minute and it's chemical free. Have you tried changing brands of adhesive remover?

Soap doesn't do it; I swear, this adhesive on the Marlen appliance is like cement! I have to scrape with a nail to get it off (same with using a tissue or pad), which leaves the area really irritated and sore.

Haven't switched brands, as the one I've been using is the only one available to me. I might see what I can get from England...

I like the Coloplast sting free remover wipes. They are pretty large wipes and they work well to get every last bit of my Eakin barrier ring off.

Maybe use tweezers to lift, rather than scrape, the adhesive off?

I'll have to see about the Coloplast... Or get creative.

oil.
Any body or baby oil....apply gently with a cotton ball or piece of gauze and rub using tiny circles...then you need to remove the oil with a very mild disolvant or everything will slip right off of you...Not a good idea!
Baby lotion can work too..

Sharon, which disolvant do you recommend? The one I tried STUNG like no one's business! (The oil worked great to remove the adhesive, though!)

I can't speak to the Marlen brand but with Hollister and Coloplast (sorry, the only ones I've used), there's no need to remove all the adhesive -- as long as there's no output on what's left behind, it's fine to pile new adhesive on top of old. Provided it's clean (wipe with damp rag) and dry (air dry or use a hair dryer on 'cool'), the adhesive should stick to itself.
