Hi all,In September 2014, I will participate in IRONMAN Chattanooga. (Yes, without a large intestine but with a pretty gnarly scar or two.) Help me exceed my goal and support research and patient services! Funds I raise will go toward the mission of CCFA, to cure Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis, and to improve the quality of life of children and adults affected by inflammatory bowel. This is my first Ironman and I am excited and nervous!! but confident that I will finish strong! This is obviously a very important cause for me and all of you! Help me to the finish line! Thanks for all your support. here is the link to my team challenge fund raising page http://www.active.com/donate/I...CCFA14/IRONMANTBloom

congratulations on being pregnant! SmilerOne thing I forgot to mention in my post is this is the 20 year anninersary for my jpouch! I am on a training plan set up by team challenge. Its pretty intense and requires a lot of time but this has also been a dream of mine to complete an Ironman. I have been doing many half marathons and full marathons, also, many mini triathlons over the years. One major battle for me is finding the right combination of nutrition and hydration before and during races. Its a little different for us jpouchers! It does go to show that life must and does go on after this surgery! Our bodies are amazing and adapt! Good luck to you! let me know how it goes when you start to train or if you need any help or advice. Cheers! Tommy also if you are willing to donate to my team challenge sight that would be awesome! every little bit helps! Thanks
Thanks hfc! Dude you rock! Good luck on your upcoming events! What do you like to use for nutrition during your long runs? And are you spiking your water with anything? I am always trying to learn as much as possible and try different ideas. Especially from fellow jpouchers! If there are any other athletes out there that read this I would love to hear from you! Hfc if you ever make it to San Diego for an event look me up brother! Cheers Tommy!
I hope to get to Austin this weekend. I think I may be camping out at Dulles Airport in Suburban NOVA trying to get to Austin for a marathon.

I try to do 2 or three gels an hour, hydrate at every opportunity, and am happy if I am in the middle of the crowd. I am nearing 55, work 12 hour days, and find it difficult to get the training in.

Hope you do well at Chattanooga.

If you are doing triathlons, you are doing more than the other 99% of the population!
