I have been taking 325mg of ferrous sulfate 2 times daily for quite some time now due to my red blood count and hemoglobin levels being half what they should be. I suffered from an extreme bout of anemia for almost 3 months after my takedown. I recently went to the hematologist to get my levels done again and happy to find out I'm right in range of where I should be. Although my levels are normal the hematologist suggest I stay on the supplement for another 2-3 months. I didn't realize but I was running low and ran out Friday night. I have been without the iron supplement for 2 days now and feel fine but found a new discovery....I have less stomach pains they I have been having. If this is the culprit that is causing me all these stomach pains and cramping than I will happily not call for another prescription. I'm well aware that stomach pains and cramping were side effects of iron supplements but never realized it might be what's causing me to have such stomach pains because I've been on them since surgery. Have any of you noticed a difference from when you were taking iron supplements and then stopped if you had improvements with stomach pains or cramps? Thanks

I have to take iron supplements (I also have to have periodic iron infusions). They don't seem to bother my stomache. I take Fesol Bifera...it's a duel formula both Heme iron and non heme iron and its more gentle on the stomach....or at least it's supposed to be. Iron pills can certainly cause stomache discomfort in some people.
