Hi memebers!

I was just diagnosed with an inguinal hernia and I am concerned because I had a complete blockage a couple of years ago and that is something I never want to go through again.  Ever.

From what I can tell it is most likely my small intestine pushing through and you can see why I have concerns.  I have a pre-surgery date of 7/1 and feel OK other than a golf ball sized lump in my groin.  It does retract a little so the ER said it is not an emergency but they are probably not schooled on jpouches.

I see some of you have been through this but at todays rate I may not have a date for sugery until weeks or months from now and that scares the heck out of me.

Any advice is greatly appreciated.  Hope everyone else is doing well fellow pouchers!

Best,

Pete

Hello,

so I popped a stitch from my 40 year old inguinal hernia repair during my recovery from jpouch surgery. This was due to all the pushing I was doing early on.

i do get some swelling down there from time to time.  i spoke with my Colorectal surgeon and he said a repair would be safe, if necessary.

the general surgeon does not feel I am at risk of strangulation of the small intestine in that area.

both surgeons told me to leave it alone unless it really bothers me and becomes an issue.  I concur with them and I try not to lift heavy things and aggravate it.

I had my surgery moved up to 7/19 and then got Covid so I had to postpone it.  I then lost my other date on 8/9 and now have to wait until 8/27.  If it can go wrong it will with me.  You get used to it after a while I guess.

Thank-you so much for the update!!! Sorry Covid ruined everything two-fold!!! That stinks that you had to go through that. Do you still want to call daily for cancellations or do you not want to chance it at this point???
