Hi!

Not sure if many have had a similar issue but I’ve recently finished a two-week course of antibiotics (cipro and flagyl) which did clear up my pouchitis symptoms, but in the final few days of taking them up until now (around 5 days) I’ve been having a bit of incontinence at night which never even happened when I had pouchitis. I’d have expected it to be the other way round! I would usually wake up during the night when I need the loo but now I’m a little too late.

Not sure if it’s due to me not having as much sense of urgency as I did before which isn’t waking me up or maybe that because I’m narrow down there and awaiting dilation, I’m unable to empty my pouch completely before sleeping .

Antibiotics did bung me up so I stopped taking my daily loperamide, but now I’m going to start taking it again. Anyone else experienced something similar?

Hi Scott,

I’ve never heard of psyllium, I’ll take a look into that. Since coming off my antibiotics my consistency has gone back to how it was beforehand and I’m getting frequent build up of wind (not as bad as before) so I’m unsure whether pouchitits is the issue I’m having here to be honest. I had a capsule endoscopy done the other day so hopefully they can see something from that because something definitely isn’t quite right.

Things have settled at night since starting on my loperamide again but I’m still waking up with a loud gurgling build up of wind and fairly loose stool again.
