It is cold/flu season again and for the first time in 3+yrs I am back to working 1/2 time and taking public transportation everywhere....which means that I am picking up every single bug in the air...my immune system seems to be at half mast. 3 days after I started back I had strep throat and was put on antibiotics, 3 days later the sinus got hit. Now I have a cold, and am terrified of getting the flu (I cannot afford to miss work) or dehydrated...been dizzy for a week already and woosy so I know that I am fighting something nasty...What can we do to bump up our immune systems. I am already on probiotics and digestive enzymes...any other ideas? Getting sick is not an option at the moment.

I don't know about Europe, but in the US they say it is not too late, even though we are in the middle of the epidemic. It takes a cople of weeks for the antibodies to form, so you don't get full protection during that time, but better than nothing.

Other than that, adequate sleep, a varied diet, and stress reduction are better than any supplements you might take.

And of course, wash your hands!

I cannot believe my hubby and I dodged the flu bullet. Two weeks ago my two kids had a case of confirmed flu. Totally went thru the whole school. I never get a flu shot. I think I got it once back when I was on Remicade.

They are still saying here to go ahead and get vaccinated that its not too late. Carry lots of hand sanitizer!! I have a whole collection of pocket size wonderful scented ones!
I will pop in to the pharmacy tomorrow and see if he has any left...Funny thing is that hubby gets the letter with a coupon for a free one and he doesn't even bother to go get it! I could have used it...will try...the epidemic hasn't hit Paris yet so for now there are very few cases (mostly in the south where I am not)...but I work in 3 big schools and am definetly more exposed now than I was over the last 3yrs being a homebody.
One of the joys of going back to work.
