Email from Ilex.

Good day

Thank you for your email. We are aware of this article which has been published by an Australian Website who do not represent the FDA and have printed this information without verifying the authenticity of the facts. As with all online information, facts need to be checked before believing.

We are not going out of business. As stated previously we have experienced a distribution issue which we are doing our best to resolve as quickly as possible. Two of our key ingredients are on back order as a result of non-manufacture during the covid pandemic. We were able to manufacture a very limited amount of product exclusively for the USA market earlier this year with what we had on hand. Now we have to wait in line to obtain the ingredients required to manufacture. Unfortunately, there is a time delay in this and as a small company, we are not a priority even though our product is desperately needed worldwide. We have stated on our website that our product is temporarily unavailable until 2024 , any updates regarding supply with be posted in the announcement bar on our website.

Naturally we cannot go into this kind of details with the multitude of emails we respond to daily . We do respond to every email received and the majority of our customers accept that we will advise as soon as we have stock availability, which is why you were able to purchase stock a couple of months ago.

Trust this satisfies your query.

Kind regards

Sales

That's an interesting email, but I would say it's a difficult business model when you are a "small business" and have to shut down production for the better part of a year because of supply chain issues. Are their employees all doing this part time, deferring salary, or getting a salary advance from the generous Pouchomarx? I am curious as to what Ilex's lifeline is?

I am wondering if it might make some sense for Ilex to sell to a bigger company that does not have the same prioritization issues with their suppliers. The email you posted kind of begs that question. I suspect someone at a bigger company who read that seemingly widely circulated email might be thinking the same thing, and formulating an offer to purchase Ilex while knowing that they can cure those supply chain issues in a way that Ilex cannot.

It seems like that possibility is more likely than going out of business if what you and many others have said about the Ilex product is true, and I have no doubt that it is.

However unreliability of supply is not really a sustainable business model as most consumers eventually find substitutes that are more reliably available and less prone to supply chain disruptions. This is kind of Economics 101 for any small business.
