Ileostomy reversed,J Pouch working

I joined the group after lower end resection and j-pouch with looped ileostomy. My thanks to the many contributors who provided information and suggestions that I read. I have now had my looped ileostomy reversed (4 weeks ago). As an encouragement to others who may be facing such an operation can I share that it is possible to experience a good result. The procedure went well and I was discharged 5 days later without using my bowels i.e. no output whatsoever, got home and things started, soft semi formed output, all the things I feared never happened. I even feel a bit guilty reading others' experiences which were trials and tribulations. I believe I am a most fortunate person and I am truly thankful.

I'm surprised they let you go home before your bowels woke up. I remember being really worried too that all these terrible things would happen and nothing ever did. And that's they way the majoity of the procedures go. Glad you're doing well and continued good health to you!
