Hello,
I am new here, but have been lurking for a bit. Some of you many know me from another forum too. I had my Step 1 surgery in Nov. 2011. I am scheduled to have my next surgery in Jan 2013. I haven't decided if it will be the next step of the j-pouch or whether I will make it a permanent end-ileo.
I am concerned about the potential complications, the recovery and the length of time it takes for things to normalize with the pouch if I go for the jpouch.
Currently, my output is fairly consistent. It is usually thick, and I have learned what things I can tolerate and and things to avoid. I can empty about 5 times per day (rarely at night) but usually just empty more often just when I urinate so I don't have to think about it.
My question is: Is it reasonable to assume if I get the jpouch, that my output will eventually become similar to what I have now? It took about 2-3 months for my ileo to improve and it continues to be great. Will the jpouch take the same amount of time?
Thanks!
