I ate late last night and towards 11 am in the morning today I started feeling bloated and in immense pain

I still poop so it's not a blockage

I want to take oxycodone or tramadol but at this point I don't want to slow my bowels but I don't know what else to do?

Should I also keep drinking fluids? Will it eventually resolve? I haven't vomited yet but I'm nauseous

I wouldn't drink anything but water in small amounts. You can still get blocked and have a bowel movement, my first obstruction happened right after a BM.

If you are in this much pain you may need to see a doctor.

I found bloating/gas to be the most uncomfortable thing and that may be all it is. I had to follow the low fodmap diet to get my gas under control. Now I still have to be careful but I'm much better.

Good luck

It's so hard to know if it's an obstruction or not isn't it? I experienced ridiculous pain recently and did not have any stool since the morning and eventually it seemed the gas stopped too. After many hours (about dinner time) I went to the hospital where I waited for a few more hours. Before I was seen I had a perfectly good movement and felt fine after that. Who knows? Not much help I know.

I think any opioid is going to slow the bowel down. Is there stool still coming out at all? Gas can really really hurt. I find Gax ex helpful and kneeling on all fours, lifting the butt high as you can and then flip over pulling the knees to the chest.

Good luck with this.

Yesterday I only had chicken broth

I only take culturelle as this was prescribed by my surgeon

I could ask him at my follow up appointment about the pouchitis. I don't feel this way every day thankfully. Only two times so far. I keep a food journal and the other time I thought I ate too much. Next time it happens and I take the Simethicone and if it dissolves, then I know the culprit was gas. I will still try to eat small portions as usual and have enough fluids.

I want to clarify. You had a BM and afterwards the blockage. Once the blockage occurred did you have subsequent BMs or did they stop until the blockage was resolved?

Gas can be very painful with a new pouch. Hard to tell it from a blockage. Unfortunately we are all different, so what works for one my not work for you. Stay with small meals, maybe experiment with gas preventatives like beano. Once you have the gas, pretty much releasing it is the only way to get rid of it. And yes gas can hide out in the small intestine. As your pouch matures, it gets better though.

They stopped until the blockage or whatever resolved, I was vomiting for some time after the bm due to the blockage.

That's what I was thinking that's why I figured I didn't have a blockage because I kept on having bm's and they never stopped.

That makes sense. Thank you.
