It's been a rough couple weeks. I was in the hospital for an obstruction earlier this month. And since then, things are not getting better. I've been having extreme difficulty emptying the last 3 weeks or so (thus what may have been the culprit for the "obstruction"). I'm lucky to go twice or maybe 3 time a day right now and it takes some effort. When I was in the hospital, the did not check me for a stricture. They normally do, but probably forgot that part since I got better so quickly. I've never had a stricture before, but also have never had trouble emptying like this (other than the two times it was definitely an obstruction). If this issue wasn't bothering me enough, the last week and a half, I've been having chest pains and severe body aches in my upper body and extreme fatigue. Also, just checked, and I have a low grade fever (99.5-99.9). The chest pain/body aches isn't anything new to me. I've battled with this for 15 years on and off, never with an actual diagnosis (best answer was inflammation due to my autoimmune disorder). I haven't had it in 6-7 years so I thought maybe it was behind me. Now, I'm trying to figure out if this is all linked somehow. My inflammation markers are up, but they always are (especially since I'm treating chronic pouchitis). Is my body in some kind of extreme inflammation mode? I'm prone to bursitis in my shoulders...does that happen in the neck/back/chest too? I just rotated to Xifaxan from Flagyl, which I had been on for several months. I think it's treating the pouchitis fine as I'm hardly using the bathroom, but I'm having other symptoms of pouchitis (fatigue, low fever, flu-like feeling). Most people might think, well, you're describing the flu, but pretty sure it's not that. The symptoms get worse each day, not better. And some days are good and some days are bad. Plus, it's been almost 2 weeks, and my whole family is healthy other than me.
Sorry for the long story. Waiting to hear back from my GI to see him as soon as possible. Any other thoughts/advice would be appreciated til then!!!
